Odysseus' men disobey Odysseus and are very greedy by opening the bag of wind and letting it all go. As a result of his men doing this, the ship gets turned in the other direction and costs them more time until they return back home.
Road Back/ Return
Odysseus is told by Tiresias that he needs to go to the Underworld. In the Underworld, he will figure out how to get back home from where Odysseus and his men are. In the Underworld, Odysseus is faced with two monsters. One was named Syclla and she was a multi-headed serpent. The other moster was Charbdis and he was a wirlpool full of teeth that would suck anything in it that passed.
Atonement/ New Life
After the Underworld, Odysseus lost all of his men and washed up on the shore of Ephesia. There, he met Alcinous. He knew who Odysseus was immediately and gave him all of the supplies he needed for his journey home.
As Odysseus arrives home, he is welcomed by suitors who are trying to take over his kingdom and marry his wife.
Odysseus dresses as a beggar and talks to his son, Telemachus and his servants. While talking to them he reveals himself and begins to make a plan with them.
Odysseus is tested by his wife with an archery test and another test asking about why their bed is so special. He kills the suitors with the help of his son and servants after they question him. After the suitors leave or are killed, Odysseus regains his kingdom but it is different than before.
