Another day, another explosion at Mt. Volcan. The first in 2 months is a sudden one. A loud boom is heard all around, and people are scrambling to find shelter, not knowing if they can escape the 2nd biggest volcano into the world.
GET OUT OF HERE!
Here are 2 rocks in the form of lava, Marcus and Mortimer, who are part of the result of this Mt. Volcan eruption. It's their first time erupting from a volcano and they have no idea what will happen next...
Wow, that was fun! Not bad for our first time, eh?
Not at all! This scenery is way better than what we had in the mantle and when we were sedimentary and metamorphic rocks. I'm astounded!
and because of this, they go from being super excited about being magma to nervous about being magma. Luckily for them, they don't have to be nervous about being magma for long because...
Yeah. I know we've been here for a long time through many different temperatures, this is the coldest I've ever be-
they roll down the volcano and find themselves as IGNEOUS ROCKS!
10-15 minutes later...
HOLY! Look at us! We're igneous rocks! We've never been igneous rocks before. I've always wanted to be one!
Same! I wonder what rock we will become next!
As they try to figure out why they keep changing from one rock to another, it finally hits Mortimer, harder than he hit the ground after becoming an igneous rock. It's a cycle!
It does, Marcus! Great observation! *GASP* IT's a CYCLE! We became different forms of rock due to different factors like this rain, and now we are back where we started: in a river! Let's call it the "Rock Cycle"!
Good question, Mortimer! Hey, doesn't this river look like the place that we started off as sedimentary rocks?
I wonder what those two rocks are talking about! I heard them talking about rocks. I want to go talk to them, but rocks can't walk, unfortunately. Too bad. Well, the wind already blew me enough. Too much weathering, erosion and deposition.
That's too bad, I kind of liked being an igneous rock. But all good things must come to an end. I wonder if the rock cycle can change order. Like a different order than the one we went through that's different for all other rocks!
Their thoughts are very true! The way a rock changes depends on the factors that come its way, such as heat or erosion. But were Marcus and Mortimer the first ones to figure out the rock cycle? Or have other rocks figured it out first? Read the next comic to find out!
The way I see it, it all depends on the factors that come our way. I wonder what some of those factors are called! We'll just have to wait and see!
