  • Since it is 3 soda cans for $1.50 we can use unit rate. Unit rate is when the second number, denominator is 1. You should write the porportion first before you start to do anything else. It helps you understand it more.
  • 3 soda cans for $1.50
  • Then, you calculate. 1 soda can equals 50 cents. To make it easier, you can times it by two to make it equal to a dollar. Since $0.50 times 2 equals 1. you'd have to do the same on both sides. 1 times 2 equals 2. If you have 17 dollars, you can just times it by 17. 2 times 17 equals 34. 1 times 17 equals 17. that means hat she'll buy 34 cans of soda. Ratios are just like this. it is and subject to subject. an example is 3:5
