Storyboard Text

  • Treat them like they would treat anyone else. Be understanding and patient. Don’t be afraid to befriend them.
  • What do you think people can do to help those with disabilities?
  • Finally, how do you think we, as a society, could possibly solve the social justice issue of disability rights?
  • Awareness is a huge thing. I think people are still afraid of individuals with disabilities and I think we could overcome that by bringing awareness to them and that they need help too. I think we could get rid of the political stigmas surrounding the issue that these individuals are weird or need to much assistance by just bringing awareness to who these people really are and that they are just like anyone else. They just need a little more help in life to be successful. I think if people are more willing to accommodate these individuals, it would help destroy these barriers. Yes, there are laws surrounding these issues, but if people were  actually willing to follow these laws it would help get rid of the stigmas surrounding the ideas about having a disability.
  • With 15% of the world population (one billion people) being disabled, it is important to educate yourself on the issue of disabilities rights. Remember that people with disabilities are the largest minority group in the world, and is the only one that anybody could become a part of at any time (Gaille para 12).
