After 6+ years of not spending time with my first friends from DC, I got to return and spend a packed weekend with them. We had a great time wandering the Mall, going to museums, and buying Inauguration souveniers. We picked up right where we'd left off after kindergarten.
It was the biggest crowd I'd ever seen in one place. There was so much cheering and everyone was so happy to be at the Inauguration. It was pure joy to be in the midst of so many people sharing the same feelings as me and all of us cheering for the same reason.
Listening to the speeches, especially President Obama's and Senator Schumer's, really inspired me. They spoke of the struggles my fellow Americans face and it made me realize how lucky I am, and how important it is for me to help others.
