  • you are not taking him because you have no proof he is yours.
  •   Some main Characters in Jip are Jip, Put, Sheldon, Mr. & Mrs. Lyman, the Wilken's family, Luke Stevens, Teacher, the Brackett boys, the slave catchers & members of the poor farm The setting  of the story is on a poor farm in Vermont before the Civil War (mid 1800's).
  • Climax
  • Whens a good time to sneak out and run away?

  • The climax is when Sheldon has died from to hard of work that he is not use to doing. Jip has also found out the slave catchers are after him because they found out his mom was a slave so they had put a warrant out for him to be captured and sent to be a slave like his mother since he represented her.
  • Falling Action(s)
  • The rising action was where they have killed Put and now they went back to trying to take Jip. Until teacher had stopped them by saying "you have no proof that Jip is you're property". So then they agreed to just put him in jail.
  • Resolution
  • The climax is when Jip gets put in jail instead of being sent as a slave. This happened because teacher would NOT let the slave catchers take him unless the have proof he is theirs. So they decided to just put him in jail until the can reason out that he is theirs.
  • The falling actions are when Jip escapes the jail and runs away. Jip ends up finding a foster family to care for him. Jip doesn't stay there for long but long enough until he feels safe enough to run away again but to Canada. 
  • The resolution is when Jip goes to Canada and finds the friend he has been told about weeks before running away. In the end of the story that's where Jip ends up staying at after he leaves his new foster family.
