Storyboard Text

  • I need help. I don't have enough strength to hit the baseball.
  • Wow! You're Bazinga Boy!
  • I'll help you transfer the chemical energy from your food into the strength you need to hit the ball.
  • Will my bat conduct energy or transfer temperature to the ball?
  • Gravitational potential energy, sound energy, and thermal energy are all involved!
  • Jack is a boy who is struggling in baseball. Only one person can help. You know the name.
  • But will the energy be destroyed when I hit the ball?
  • No! The law of conservation of energy says energy can't be destroyed only transferred.
  • Chemical energy is energy from fossil fuels and food. Bazinga Boy is going to use the chemical energy from Jack's food to help him hit the baseball.
  • You're a boss, Bazinga Boy! Did you have Mrs. Banalewicz at SMS?
  • Conduction occurs when the bat conducts energy to the ball. The ball and the bat will increase in temperature when they make contact. There will also be gravitational P.E. when the ball is at the highest point in the air. Sound energy occurs when the ball makes the crack of the bat. Finally, there is thermal energy when the bat transfers it to the ball.
  • Energy Transformation is legendary!
  • The law of conservation of energy is applied. The ball just transfers the energy to a different form. It is not lost or destroyed.
  • Jack has figured out how to hit the baseball with enough strength to have it soar in the air! All with the help of Bazinga Boy and Mrs Banalewicz!
  • Energy transformation rocks!
