This is a picture of colonists settling in North America. Colonists chose to settle in North America rather than stay in England because in North America people were offered religious freedom and the land had no leases on land for farmers while being rich in natural resources.
Conflict arose between the British and the French when they both had their eyes on the Ohio River Valley territory. This conflict soon grew into the French and Indian War.
Boycott Against the Taxes/Acts
The Quartering Act stated that if a British soldier was in your city you had to provide for him food, water, shelter, fuel, and transportation. This upseted the colonists because it basically meant they had to take care of the soldiers.
Caused by resentment of having the British troops in their city, the Boston Massacre started when a crowd of colonists started throwing sticks and snowballs at the British Soldiers in their towns. Soon after, several soldiers started firing into the crowd. Five Americans were killed any many others wounded.
The colonists thought the taxes/acts were a violation of their rights because they were getting taxed and they had no say in the government. Thus, the phrase " no taxation without representation" was created.
No Customs Duty
All of these things led to the American Revolution because the French and Indian war started the resentment by creating heavy taxes against the colonists and Britain's war debt and all of the additional taxes/acts including the Sugar Act, the Stamp Act, the Tea Act, the Declaratory Act, the Townshend Acts, and the Intolerable Acts added to the resentment because the colonists were getting heavily taxed yet, they had no say in their government. The Boston Massacre also helped to cause the American Revolution because the massacre sparked rebellion in the colonies or in other words, gave the colonists a desire to rebel Britain even more. All of this desire to rebel eventually led to treason which started the American Revolution.
