Storyboard Text

  • There were so many ways the Grad students could expand their minds... So it was hard to stop!
  • ... And learn about Rhizomatic learning, student blogging, Google Apps, Maker Culture, Networked Identity...
  • Katia was pretty excited about all the planning they had ahead.... Alec wasn't so sure. This fall he had to present at 137 workshops in 43 countries, but then...
  • ... Digital Storytelling, Gender Equity and EdTech, and Connected Learning
  • I've got an idea, I know a few friends on-line, I bet they could help us!
  • Learning can be messy. Student have many experiences and need to make their own meaning. Must keep learning authentic and real...Like in GENIUS HOUR???
  • So tonight's session is on rhi-zo-ma-tic learning. Huh? Is that even a word? David Cormier, wasn't he on that Twitter list?
  • Rhizomatic Learning was easy to understand, but hard to spell. David Cormier's presentation turned on many lightbulbs that night, with the importance of inquiry based & authentic learning. They also learned about all the possibilities of MOOCs & the opportunities offered.
  • Jenn was so excited about her idea, she immediately told her colleagues about it. And Genius Hour began...
  • Last night at this session I learned about rhi-zo- rhizo-ma -t... Anyways... I think we need to start a Genius Hour group in our division.
  • Sounds like a great idea. Go for it!
  • The following session explored Google Apps and all the benefits of using Google in the classroom.
  • I used Google Drive last year with my grade 8's. Wow, there is so much MORE to Google Apps than I thought! I hope Office 365 can do the same??
  • After learning about the collaborative benefits of Google, Jenn immediately started exploring the collaborative opportunities of Office 365.
  • Did you notice that O365 is pretty much a rip-off of Google Apps?
  • Yep, but we get it free with Microsoft products... so it makes sense for us. Plus syncing is awesome.
