Flora was in her room when she looked out the window and saw Mrs. Tickham vacuuming her yard. Then she saw Mrs. Tickham vacuum up a squirrel! Flora ran outside and did CPR on the squirrel. The squirrel was breathing. Flora named the squirrel Ulysses.
Flora brought Ulysses in her house hoping her mother wouldn’t notice. She brought Ulysses to her room and read The Illuminated Adventures of Incandesto to Ulysses.
After Flora came up after dinner, she found Ulysses sleeping on her pillow. Flora went to sleep, but while she was asleep, Ulysses woke up and snuck out to find something to eat. He found a bag of cheese puffs and ate them all. Then, he typed on the typewriter Flora’s mother uses.
Flora noticed Ulysses was orange. When she came downstairs to eat, She showed Ulysses, Mary Ann, who is a lamp that her mother named. When her mother first saw the lamp, she said it was beautiful. Flora had never been called beautiful by her mother.
