I have found that these teaching experiences have had a very positive effect on my regular teaching in the classroom. More interaction and activity based learning are great ways to teach the concepts you are teaching, no matter what the subject area.
My name is Jody, and I have been a teacher in the Barrie area for the last 18 years. I am currently teaching math, but have also taught science, biologyand was a Student Success teacher. I am very much looking forward to working with you all.
I cannot wait to someday travel to Europe, but I know boating this weekend will be lots of fun.
I have also over the past few years helped to run an International Robotics team at my school, as well as taught AP Calculus, ran Link Crew for 7 years with another colleague, and am currently helping to run Global Action
As we have discussed in class, make sure to use proper online etiquette when collaborating with other students online.
Over the past few summers, I was lucky enough to have had the opportunity to teach biology in Costa Rica. I love the idea of experiential learning, and also like to travel (especially to Costa Rica…lol). It is such a beautiful and friendly place.
Outside the classroom I am kept very busy with my two daughters who are both in high school, and many extra-curriculars. I love to travel and I love boating, fishing, camping, and playing volleyball. Oh, and do not forget board games and math puzzles.
Technology is becoming more and more a part of the face to face classroom, and is also an arena that students are very comfortable learning in. Technology, if used properly, can provide many investigative and visual ways for students to learn concepts. The internet is also a great way to learn new information, as long as the sites are credible.
I know that there are many, many more teaching tools surrounding technology that I have not seen yet. I am very excited to learn about them, and to try implementing them in my classroom. I look forward to working with all of you.
