Caleb and I have been friends for a long time but no amount of time could prepare me for what was about to happen. Caleb was a cool, calm, collected kid. He was always cool under pressure and nothing seemed to bother him. Until THAT day.
Dude are you okay?
It all happened during P.E. It was innocent fun at first. Caleb was watch our friends and I play some football. It was really fun until the accident.
WHAT THE HECK AMBROSE!?! So you hit me with a football and don't say anything?
Ambrose: Okay Here it comes! Me: Oh No!!! Caleb look out!
One of our more athletic friends: Ambrose throws the football and I had failed to catch it before it hit Caleb right smack dab in the face.
Caleb was on the ground writhing in pain for at least a minute then he just sprung back up. Boy was he mad. When Caleb just stood up we were all in a state of shock. It wasn't because of the initial injury, it was the aftermath that kept us all in a dead silence.
When I suggested he go to the hospital Caleb just froze like a deer in headlights. A blank look in his eyes. He was frozen solid where he stood. Caleb then began to sweat profusely and violently shake. Tears fell down his cheeks. He tried to speak but his words were severely stuttered and slurred. He was completely hysterical. When he got silent, I persisted with the idea that he go to the hospital.
Then Caleb tried the unthinkable: he ran from us. Fortunately, Caleb couldn't get very far before we could catch him. When we brought him to the nurse he completely lost it so our friends and I restrained him while his mom was being called. After 15 minutes of pure freaking out Caleb's mom arrived and had taken him to the hospital. No one knows what happened after that and we never will since no one talks about it. EVER.
