Betrayal: Mrs. Alexander tells Christopher that before his mother "died" his mother had an affair with Mr. Shears, the former husband of Mrs. Shears. Christopher's mother betrayed his father.

Communication: Christopher doesn't understand emotions, so his teacher Siobhan draws pictures of faces to detect what he's feeling. Christopher only understands the happy and sad face though.
Love: After a fight that got physical between Christopher and his father, father takes him to the zoo as a way to telling him that he's sorry. He then tells Christopher, "I love you very much, Christopher. Don't ever forget that."
Math stuff
Order VS Disorder: Christopher is being arrested for hitting an officer. Christopher is calm though because he starts thinking about the stars, the sky, and the Milky Way Galaxy. He's doing this in a orderly fashion, in a very disorderly moment he's in.
Trust: It takes awhile for Christopher to trust new people, especially at school. He won't talk to them for weeks until he feels he can trust them and they're safe to be around.
Logic VS Emotion: When on the train to London, Christopher is feeling scared being around so many people. In order to calm down his emotions, he starts doing math inside his head.
