Eliezer Wiesel was a teenager born in the town of Sighet, Transylvania. He was fond of learning more about his religion. Moishe the Beadle taught him everything he needs to know in that area. Eventually, Moishe is taken away.
As the war is starting to get close towards where Elie lives, German soldier officials had appeared all throughout the town and started to form ghettos.
Moishe the Beadle returns from being captured and warns the people of Sighet of what is to come but they don't listen to him at all.
Because of German ghettos formed all around Sighet, they found out that later they were gonna be taken to Concentration Camps just like Birkenau. There, Elie and his father get separated from his mom and sister. Elie denies the cruelty of death, desperation, and the loss of faith he faces under the rule of the Nazis.
Elie just got out of an operation on his foot and decides to go with the rest of the Jews to leave the camp on foot. They go through the woods miles away towards Gleiwitz, where the time was really snowy. People that got left behind were getting killed.
Elie's father passes away in Buchenwald and he starts feeling many emotions at the time like guilt and despair. Later he gets released from the camp mid-April 1945.
