U.S president Franklin Roosevelt (on right) and Soviet leader Joseph Stalin (on left) agree that after the war Germany shall be divided and occupied jointly.
A final wartime conference between the two men at Yalta, happens in 1945, which the two powers agree to shift the eastern border of Germany to the West, enlarging western Poland as compensation for the eastern sections of that country annexed by the Soviet Union.
After defeating Germany, The four Allies divide Germany equally among each other. In 1946, the United States and Great Britain merge each others zones ,which in 1947, the government began a massive aid program under the Marshall Plan.
