Everything was normal up until that one day. Mommy and I would always spend time together after she got home from work and she would take such good care of me. I wish there was a warning before everything changed forever ....
"I'm sorry I've failed you."
Very slowly, yet almost too fast, things began to change. Mommy started acting, "different". I could tell something was off and she not her usual self. She began to display erratic behavior; her usual neat room became a landfill with trash everywhere, and her typical calm-self, had started getting paranoid and would tear up the apartment looking for invisible creatures that weren't actually there. What happened to my mommy?
"What is this place?"
One day, I heard the car pull in the driveway hours after the normal time when mommy would come home. I hopped off from my bed and cautiously made my way to the front door. There she stood, as she slowly creaked it open. I could tell something was terribly off.
She no longer loves me.
Then mommy slammed the door shut and fell the floor. She broke down on her knees, crying. I rushed over to her side and gently placed my paw on her leg. "Oh Ginger," mommy sobbed, "I'm sorry I've failed you." I had no idea what she talking about and was horrified that she could ever believe that she could fail me. I tried comforting her but she cried for the entire night, until the next morning.
The next morning, however, mommy placed me in her car and took me somewhere I've never been before. A kind woman opened the door, but I was scared because I had never seen her before. I tried crying and calling out to her. "Mommy, what is this place? Where are you taking me?" Her face had no expression as she handed me over to this stranger, and drove away in the car before I never saw my mommy again.
I haven't seen my mommy since that day. The woman she gave me to is kind, but she isn't my mommy. I'm not sure what happened to her or why she gave me up. At first, I thought she killed because it couldn't comprehend that my mommy would give me up. However, the kind woman apparently calls her on the phone from time to time, sounding concerned. I believe mommy gave me up because she no longer loves me.
