Storyboard Text

  • Finally! Serfs obtain some more freedom. Because I moved to newer lands, I can just pay the lord instead of working the fields. There is also more food production, therefore longer life spans!
  • Towns have started to respring. The growth of trading and food supply helped develop them. Many towns fought for the lord to give them a charter, the document allowing their own laws and tax system.
  • People have started working together to form partnerships, it makes it easier to make money and expand their businesses. Moneychangers have slowly started to grow into bankers; leading into the start of economy. Guilds were also formed. Bringing apprenticeships and journeymen along with it.
  • The Normans from northern France invaded England. Normans has defeated the Saxon king at the Battle of Hastings. Eventually, the culture of the Saxons and Normans molded together; for example the english language. William the Conqueror now rules.
  • The legal system is starting to take its place again. Royal court ruling are being implemented over the courts of the Church. The justice system is becoming more fair and leading into the English legal system. The jury system is taking shape as well.
  • King John's rule is quite terrible, he is demanding the people for higher taxes and is causing rebellion. The barons are forcing King John to sign the Magna Carta.
