  • Causes of the Persian war
  • Battle of Marothon
  • Battle of Thermopylae
  • The cause of these battles was when King Darius got angry when the Athenians helped the Ionians to rebel against Persia and then declared war against Athens and it's allies in 492 B.C.E.
  • Battle of Salamis
  • The Marothon battle started 490 B.C.E, Persia vs Athens when Pheidippides came running warning the Athenians that the Persian army was coming. Athens won because of their Phanlex formation strategy. 
  • Battle of Plateau
  • The Thermoplyae battle  started in 480 B.C.E, Persia vs Athens and Sparta, when Xerxes lead his army into Greece. King Leondies tries to  hold off the Persians with the 300 fighters left that  were eventually killed and the Persians won.
  • Effects of the war
  • The Salamis battle started in 480 B.C.E, Persians vs the Athenians. When Persia invaded Athens, but the Athenians were smart and lead the Persians to fight in a narrow waterway with their boats. The Persian boats were big so the boats got stuck and the Athenians won.
  • The Plataea battle started in 479 B.C.E, when the Persian army invaded The Atheniens. When the Greeks defeted the Persians that were left behind to fight for their lives. This was the end of the war.
  • When the Persian wars ended, Athens created a Delian League to protect all the city states that if Persia ever invaded again everyone would help out and fight back. Athens then rebuilt their city-states that were better then ever.
