  • To constitute Italy, one, free, independent, Republican nation.
  • Cavour
  • Victor, we must send the Sardinia troops to prevent Garibaldi from forming a republic.

  • To Siciliy 
  • Mazzini was a nationalist from 1830 who started young Italy. Young Italy was a secret group of nationalists trying to lead the way to a republic. Even though they did not succeed their group helped spread the idea of a unified Italy and made the way. Mazzini believed this was the only thing that made sense because of everyones location, history and who it would help economically.
  • Camillo Cavour was a ruthless politician fighting for a unified Germany. He was a prime minister and monarchist who support liberal ideas and realpolitik. His goal was to take Italy from Austria but he also led Sardinia in many ways. Together he would lead Sardinia and France to a victory over Austria. He also then help Garibaldi unify Italy but he feard later that the nationalist would form a republic. He tried to send troops but in the end, Garibaldi turned Napels and Siciliy over as a patriotic movement.
  • Garbaldi was a nationalist but ally of Mazzini and excepted aid from Cavour. To make unified Italy he created the Red Coats. They won Sicily and the join with the Sardinian troops. After they won Naples and eventually Garbaldi turned over both teritories to Victor.
