The British said the colonists had to provide housing and food for the British soldiers. The colonists were mad because it cost them money and taxes. They refused to pay.
The British asked the colonists to pay tax on every piece of printed paper. It included books, newspapers, and playing cards. The colonists wouldn't pay. They burned the stamped paper and refused to buy supplies from the British.
