  • The British wanted to take control of the Hudson River. General William Howe and approimately 20,000 troops defeated George Washington and his 10,000 troops.
  • We are going to take control of the Hudson River!
  • The Battle of Brooklyn
  • In the battle of Princeton, Washington and his troops had to destroy a bridge so the British could not get to Princeton.
  • 
  • Trenton and Princeton
  • Destroy the bridge!
  • The Battle/Siege of Yorktown
  • The American side pushed back the British. This victory for the Patriots proved to France that the Americans had a chance in winning the war.
  • The Battle of Saratoga
  • Back up!
  • I don't feel so well.
  • American troops were stationed on Valley Forge to train. There was harsh weather, disease, and they struggled with supplies.
  • The weather is too dangerous to return home!

  • Winter at Valley Forge
  • The Southern Campaign: Cowpens & Guilford Courthouse
  • The British thought they had won the battle of Cowpens. The American side was prepared and Daniel Morgan ordered hismen to shoot the British.
  • Washington and his troops ambushed the British on October 19, 1781 in Yorktown.
