  • To the Land Of Dead we go!

  • I promise not to eat the cattle
  • If you don't follow the advice, everyone but you will die.
  • Sirens
  • setting Odysseus and his crew set out for the land of the dead in search of Tiresias, the prophet. They arrive and find the place to which Circe has directed them.
  • Sirens
  • conflict Odysseus is speaking to Tiresias. "You will find cattle of the sun at pasture. Don't touch them! If you let them alone then you will make it back to your homeland."
  • foreshadowing Listen to with care to this, now, and a god will arm your mind. Square in your ship's path are sirens, crying beauty to bewitch men coasting by; woe to the innocent who hears the sound!
  • Imagery Odysseus and his crew sail past the sirens, and he plugged all of their ears so they wouldn't be tempted by their voices. He ordered his men to tie him to the mast, and to leave his ears unplugged so he knew when the sirens were gone. They manage to make it past the monsters unscathed.
