The Impact of the Crusades on the Jews
Oh no! The Holy Books!
The Crusade caused many deaths and destruction of homes. Crusaders needed a way to pay for their supplies so, money was valued more. Some knights began performing banking functions for Crusades. Also, Monarchs got more power as nobles and knight left to fight. These helped end feudalism. As Christians went to the Holy Lands they learned new things, like new fabric called muslin.
The Crusades brought fewer benefits to Muslims than they did to Christians. Muslims did drive the crusades from the Middle East, but they lost their lands in Iberia. The Crusades caused deaths and destruction of property. Muslims did get new weapons and military ideas. The merchants received a lot of money from trades in Europe. This money helped build schools and new mosques. The Crusades also brought Muslims together to fight against a common enemy.
The Crusades did not do anything good for the Jews. Crusades destroyed synagogues and holy books. Anti-semitism spread among the crusaders. Jews didn't hold any public office. Christians took over businesses that were run by Jews. Segregation spread through Europe in the 14th and 15th centuries. Jews were forced to live in ghettos.
