  • Egeus wants to marry his daughter, Hermia, to Demetrius but she disobeys because she likes Lysander. To make her obey he brings her to the king Theseus...
  • Hermia
  • Theseus
  • Demetrius
  • My noble Lord, this man have my consent to marry her
  • Egeus
  • And my Gracious duke, this man has the bewitch'd the bosom of my child
  • Which shall be either to this gentleman or to her death
  • As she is mine, I may dispose of her
  • So is Lysander
  • Demetrius is a worthly gentleman
  • Take time to pause; and, by the next new moon either prepare to die or else to wed Demetrius
  • It has been decided, or Hermia weds Demetrius or she dies. But back alone with Lysander a plan is being elaborated...
  • and to that place the sharp Athenian law cannot pursue us!
  • I have a widow aunt of great revenue. There gentle Hermia, may I marry thee
  • Helena is a friend of Hermia and she loves Demetruis without any love back. Could she reveal their escape to gain Demetrius's trust?
