  • Alliances
  • We need to unite against those Austrian Imperialists!
  • Imperialism
  • Colonization toward Africa
  • Colonization toward Asia
  • Militarism
  • I believe a strong military is necessary for our empire's survival!
  • Reunite the Slavic People!
  • Many treaties were made with different countries before WW1, and were about if one country was attacked, an allied country would come in their defense. The two main alliances in WW1 were the allied and the central. This alliance would lead to a chain reaction when one country got mad.
  • Nationalism
  • Freedom to the Slavic People!
  • European nations colonized many parts of Africa and Asia, which caused many tensions between each other.
  • Imperialism is when a country increase its power and wealth by gaining territory. Many Empires were made from Imperialism, and this would cause tensions between neighbors, specifically in Europe.
  • Assassination of Franz Ferdiand
  • An Arms Race began in the 20th century, as each nation tried to see who was the most powerful. Countries like Germany and Britain increased their armies and the military now had a greater influence in public policy. People believed a strong military protected them.
  • Overall Conclusion
  • Before WW1, many Slavs in Bosnia wanted to leave Austria-Hungary and be a part of Serbia. This nationalistic and ethnic revolt got into the hearts of Slavic people and lead to the assassination of Franz Ferdinand. Many people had a patriotic feel for their country.
  • The final straw that led to WW1 was when the Black Hand, an extreme radical group, assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand, wanting Austro-Hungary to collapse and to get revenge for their fellow Slavic People. After, Austro-Hungary made demands for Serbia which weren't completely met and war began.
  • For the Slavic People!
  • (Obviously historically accurate)
  • Because of Austro-Hungary along with other European Imperialism, European nations uniting against each other, a great surge in Militarism and Nationalism, and the death of Franz Ferdinand, resulted in one of the deadliest war in history which changed humanity forever.
