  •  The narrator tells the reader how he is nervous but states how calmly he can tell us.  How how he killed an innocent man because of his eye. The narrator is the antagonist is this short story.
  • Climax
  • In the first part of the rising action, the narrator watches the old man. He does this for a week. During this time it was always midnight. He would slowly put his head in the old mans room to see the old man. after each night the narrator would ask the old man how he slept during the night.
  • Falling action
  • During the last part of rising action, is where the suspense builds up the most. When the narrator peaks in on the old man on the eighth night his finger slips and makes a noise. That noise wakes up the old man. Then they have a 1 hour stand off.  Last he opens the lantern so it shows the eye.
  • Resolution 
  • He throws a mattress over the old man. that makes the old man die by smothering.
