The Devil and Tom Walker Storyboard By: Jushawn Franklin
Tom Walker had just came upon an old native american fortification and almost kicked a skull before meeting "the black woodsman"
"The Black Woodsman" who is the Devil showing imagery. The Devil offered Tom buried treasure which was one Captain Kidd's, presumably for something in return, like Tom's soul
Old Scratch is another form of the devil, Tom having desire to gain Captain Kidd's treasure, tries to contact the devil again and agrees to a bargain. Old Scratch first offers the treasure in return for a service, first it was a slave trader which tom declined, then a moneylender, tom agreed . He moved to Boston and showed no mercy to those in need.
Tom gains success and grows older, as he does this he begins to regret his bargain and wants to find a way to back out, he carries a bible, is zealous in church attendance, prays loud and publicly but does not give up his business practices
By this point the devil offers to spite or deliberately hurt his wife, tom declines. However toms wife tries to make the same deal because of their continued strife, but dies in the process.
