I'll become a monk!!!
WELCOME TO THE DIET OF WORMS!
Martin Luther got hit by lightning and was thrown to the ground. Then and there he yelled "I will become a monk!" and he did. This moment changed his life. After he became a monk, he rebelled against the Catholic Church and the indulgences.
This scene is when Martin luther wrote the 95 theses and mainly nailed it to the door of the Catholic Church in Wittenberg, Germany. The 95 theses are his complaints about the Catholic Church and how making the indulgences was wrong. He was asked to deny this later at the diet of worms.
I'm going to divorce
This is one of the most important things in the reformation, the Diet of Worms. The diet of worms was an official meeting in Germany where Luther was asked to deny his teachings. Of course he did not deny, and for this he was exocommucated.
In this scene, King henry VIII fell in love with Anne Boleyn, and this is what made him divorce Catherine of Aragon. Anne Boleyn was a follower of Luther and all she wanted was to be Queen. She was accused of cursing Henry so she was killed.
After Henry fell in love with Anne Boleyn, he went to the Pope and asked for divorce but the Pope said no. Henry did not accept this and so he started his own church and granted himself divorce against Catherine of Aragon.
In this scene, it shows how John Calvin was a man who started his own religion called predestination. Predestination is where you believe that god has already chosen if you go to heaven or not. He believed in hard work and education, and with his rules, there was a strict rule of living like no bright colors, no dancing, etc.
