  • I want whatever will give SPED students the most opportunity
  • Let's look at doing block scheduling!
  • We cannot make classes shorter, Science needs more time for labs!

  • We will need to make some cuts to our budget.  Which elective classes does your child find most beneficial?

  • December 2017- Ms. Vue (Principal) meets with Admin Team and ILT to discuss budget projections and possible changes to a master schedule.  Ms. Vue asks Ms. Bisch to facilitate a Master Schedule Team
  • January 2018- Ms. Bisch meets with ILT members who have offered to be part of the Master Schedule Team.  The team has been informed there will be budget cuts so they begin researching various master schedules from other schools.  It is comprised of 3 general ed core content teachers, 2 specialist teachers, 1 special ed teacher, and 1 ELL teacher.
  • February 2018- Anthony receives their budget for SY 2018-2019. and will need to cut over $400,000.  Ms. Vue lets Master Schedule Team know she would like us to have a 6-period day and we will need to drastically reduce FTE for elective teachers.  Feedback is sought from parents and students.
  • Who will be co-teaching? How many Level I classes will we need? How will we support students who are in co-taught classes?
  • February 2018:  Ms. Vue and Ms. Bisch meet with specialists and world language departments to let them know there will be changes and seek input about what is negotiable vs what is not negotiable for how their classes are offered in the master schedule.
  • March 2018:  Ms. Vue and Ms. Bisch brainstorm and work tirelessly trying to figure out elective rotations where students can still get all IB MYP requirements in only 6 periods rather than 7.  One night, Ms. Bisch has a dream about it.  She wakes up, writes down her thoughts and just like that, there is now a framework for electives in place!
  • April 2018:  Ms. Vue and Ms. Bisch meet with the ELL department to discuss the needs of the ELL students.  They look at data from the ACCESS test and grades of students who were in a pull-out or co-taught class.  They work with the ELL teachers to determine teaching assignments for co-teaching and identify students needing various levels of service.
