Hi everyone! My name is Justine and I will be your OT today! Our group focus is self management. This can include anything from medication management, role management, or emotional management. Can everyone say their name and express 1 problem they have in self management?
I'm Nancy and I was always very sharp and had the best memory but now I can't even remember to take a pill at the right time.
I'm Joe and I have experienced a lot of weight gain. I am motivated to change because I feel awful but don't know how.
I'm Peggy and I am having problems with weight gain like Joe because I have no structure in my day.
Hi I'm Bill and I am also having trouble taking my pills like Nancy as well as my insulin for diabetes.
Thank you for sharing! It sounds like everyone has a similar area of need so our focus will be on medication management which includes taking medications and doing exercises for your health. You have already accomplished the first step in today's group by understanding your problem. The next step is to make a plan with your desired behavior. To create your plan, we are going to do a fun activity!
This beach ball has different strategies written on it to address self management in relation to medication and weight gain. I will toss the ball to you and wherever your right thumb lands is a strategy you can try to implement into your routine! The goal is to practice this strategy to see if it works for you for the next week.

My thumb landed on attend the fitness classes. I could do this everyday because they run fitness classes in the wellness center. I just need to know the schedule.
