Storyboard Text

  • Our country is new and emerging!
  • The French need our help!
  • Stop! I have made a decision.
  • We should not get involved with affairs with the French!
  • The constitution says "Don't get involved in national affairs!"
  • I'm sorry, but there is no way that America can help French with the war.
  • You are disgusting! We helped you! We deserve your help!
  • The French helped us! We should have helped them!
  • WE MADE A TREATY WITH THE FRENCH!
  • Our country is too new! This war will destroy our government!
  • That treaty was with KING LUIS! It no longer exists!
  • The French were in the middle of their own revolution. It was highly debated whether we should assist them in their struggles or stay neutral.
  • The French have wrecked our ship again!
  • George Washington decided to stay neutral and not get involved with any foreign affairs.
  • We love you!
  • ...I may have committed many errors...
  • Don't leave us!
  • Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson had very different ideas of how America should be involved in the French Revolution. This caused some division among the cabinet.
  • Bye!
  • Because the French were at a war with England, many of the American's supplies were stolen from ships. As a result, George Washington introduced Jay's Treaty.
  • Washington MUST do somehting about this!
  • I propose Jay's Treaty to pay back for the lost ships.
  • Finally George Washington decided not to run for a third term in order to set an example for future presidents. He wrote his Farewell Address in order to explain to his people why he was not running again.
