  • Elephant Seal's are located mostly in the North Pacific Ocean (between Baja, Mexico and Gulf of Alaska). They're known for their irresistible blubber and are the target to many harvesting hunters.
  • The Nineteenth Century
  • Hey mom, why do people want our blubber?
  • The harvesters need to hunt the elephant seal's for their blubber, so they could produce oil to make money for their household
  • NO FOOD!
  • We need to get the blubber so we can make oil
  • Our families won't have food
  • The blubber search begins
  • come here fishy, fishy, fishy!
  • Is a seal a fish?
  • We need more. keep taking them to the boat
  • What's going on?
  • Due to the harvester's overbearing act over the elephant seal's, their population drastically decreased and has been functionally extinct because of harvesting.
  • The late 1880's
  • Where is everyone?
  • Si senor!
  • The Mexican government came to conclusion that the Guadalupe Island is appointed to be a biological reserve, so the elephant seal's can recuperate.
  • 40 years later...
  • Aren't they extinct?
  • Something needs to be done about the elephant seal's
  • Because of the Mexican government the seal's were able to expand their population size to new areas and is continuing to increase.
