There were federalists and republicans. The Federalists were led by Alexander Hamilton, and the Republicans were led by Thomas Jefferson. There was different viewpoints by both of them.
Thomas Jefferson Thought that people should have political power. He wanted strong state government instead of a whole central government. Other things include that he was for the french during there war, or there to be emphasis on agriculture
Alexander Hamilton was a federalist that was rivals with Thomas Jefferson because he had different views with him like that he wanted a pro-British basis unlike Jefferson who liked the pro-French
It was a debate between James Madison and Thomas Jefferson the Republicans vs Alexander Hamilton the Federalists. The Republicans Included small farmers and some wealthy planters. Hamilton and his supporters were federalists for there strong federal government and drew most people most support from merchants and manufacturers in cities
Planters or farmers that supported the Republicans wanted strong state government to help them in their southern area. Hamilton's supporters from merchants and people from cities wanted things like a pro- British standpoint or a strong central government.
