Storyboard Text

  • Poor Odysseus shall be able to return home! Please deliver my message.
  • I am Hermes, the messenger of the gods, and I am here to deliver a message saying Odysseus is to be set free.
  • What?! Why does Odysseus have to go! He must stay on this island!
  • Odysseus, I have some good news for you!
  • All the gods gather on Mount Olympus to discuss the fate of Odysseus. Zeus tells Hermes, the messenger of gods, to be sent to Calypso's island to tell Odysseus that he may be set free.
  • Wow, we have finally finished building the raft!
  • Calypso, thank you so much for helping me.
  • Hermes with his flying sandals goes to Calypso to deliver the message. At first, when she gets the message, she does not like the fact that Odysseus has to leave her island.
  • Finally, I can start my journey to find my family again.
  • After complaining many times, Calypso gets exhausted and finally agrees to let Odysseus go. She then goes to look for Odysseus to tell him the news and sees him crying.
  • Calypso tells Odysseus that she will help Odysseus build a raft to help escape the island. They supply it with food and water and it takes 4 days to build the raft.
  • Odysseus gets ready to depart on the fifth day and says his farewell to Calypso. After eighteen days at sea, he spots Scheria, the island of the Phaeacians which is his next destination.
  • While Odysseus is on the sea for eighteen days, Poseidon finds out that Odysseus had escaped Calypso's island. Poseidon does not like this so he sends a massive storm that almost drowns Odysseus.
