Women were allowed to attend college between 1821-1872. Women attended Willards Troy Female Seminary. More then 12,000 women went.
Elizabeth Cady Stanton believed in equal rights. She went to a womans rights convention to fight for the following. She fought for woman to be able to share the custody of their children, and keeping their earnings an inheritance etc.
One day Elizabeth went out for some tea with some friends. She poured out her discontent with the limitations placed on woman under Americas democracy. Her friends agreed with her and they ended up making the idea happen and fight for their rights.
