EXPOSITION:Edgar Allen Poe introduces the reader to the detective Dupin
CONFLICT: Dupin is the detective trying to find out who killed the mother and daughter
Rising Action: Dupin analyzes the clues. Gold coins were left in the apartment. Le Bon is arrested. The woman's head was cut off. The room was on the 4th floor. Bloody razor and grey hair.
CONFLICT: Dupin believes the killer may not be human. He puts an ad for an Ourang-Otang and a sailor confronts Dupin claiming he owns the animal.
FALLING ACTION: Dupin tells the police that the culprit must be the Orangutan. He realizes that he killed the girls by escaping, climbing up the lightning pole, going into the house, and in a fit of rage killed the two women.
RESOLUTION: The ape is captured and Le Bon is released. Dupin solves the mystery
