  • Brutus is nervous and doubtful about killing Caesar, but eventually convinces himself that it must be done. His servant walks in to show a letter left in his bedroom.
  • Brutus
  • Should I kill Caesar? He's never been one to be unreasonable. But then again, power might corrupt him, just like any other man.
  • Sir, there is a letter for you.
  • Servant
  • Caesar reads the letter that his servant found in his bedroom.
  • Dear Brutus,     Why are you sleeping so soundly when Rome is being threatened? Take a look at yourself and get it together. Speak about it, strike against, and fix the problem. Don't let Rome fall to Caesar!

  • Cassius
  • The conspirators talk amongst each other as Brutus and Cassius have a discreet conversation about an unknown subject.

  • Brutus dissuades the idea of swearing an oath since their cause is commitment enough.
  • We should swear an oath.

  • We don't need to; isn't our cause enough?

  • No, Antony will be harmless after Caesar is dead. Also, we should kill Caesar in a bold fashion, but not so vicious.
