In spring of 1690 Massanet and three other friars went to spread the Catholic religion ,they were greeted with friendly Indians who made a feast,then they built the first mission in East Texas called San Francisco de los Tejas.It had setbacks things like failing crops, diseases, and resentment to change. But they accomplished Spains connection and more settlers.

Hidalgo kept asking the Spanish officials to rebuild the mission for Tejas for around 10+ years and was met up with refusal , so Hidalgo took matters into his own hands and wrote a letter to the French governor of Louisiana , who accepted and saw it as a opportunity for trade and settlements. And then ordered Louis de St. Denis to negotiate with Spanish officials on the rio grande
Antonio founded missions Nuestra Senora de los Dolores and San Miguel de los Adaes.In 1720 he founded the mission San Jose y San Miguel de Aquayo which was the most successful of the Spanish missions In Texas
He was given the charge of territory running from northern Mexico to the San Antonio River.This region was called Nuevo Santander.Over time , Escandon founded 20 settlements in this area
