Benjamin then came back to America from London and was elected a delegate for the second Continental Congress.
At the second Continental Congress, Benjamin took part in the 5 member committee who helped create the Declaration of Independence.
Congress sent Benjamin to France to convince France's help in the war.
Benjamin eventually was able to convince France to enlist the nation's help in the war.
Benjamin in France convinced military leader and trainer Freidrech Wilhom von Stueben or Baron von Stueben to come to America.
Benjamin then helped end the war by negotiating and help create the 1783 Treaty of Paris.
