  • In April 1775 colonists started to fight for rights as subjects of the british crown.
  • Colonists held a town hall meeting discussing why the colonies wanted and deserved independence.
  • July 4~ The congress formally adopted the declaration of independence written by Jefferson in Philadelphia
  • Statement adopted by the continental congress meeting at Philadelphia. July 4 1776 which announced that the 13 American colonies had got their freedom
  • To this day, The Declaration Of Independence allows people to have their freedom and independence.
