Storyboard Text

  • Caesar sits in his study, writing about his conquest of Gaul and thinks of the glory that is to be gained from his recordings of it.
  • If they think that the Gauls were fierce, they will think Caesar is much greater.
  • Caesar must write so that the people of Rome will understand that I deserve the greatest praise.
  • Caesar writes of how the Belgae live without luxuries because of their distance from the cities and lack of access to such things that soften people...
  • ... and of how the Helvetii fight nearly every day with their neighbors, the Germans.
  • Caesar thinks back to when he first heard the news of the Helvetii trespassing into a Roman province.
  • We must set out.
  • The Helvetii say they wish to cross through our territory.
  • ... and of the clever plan to give his troops time to move.
  • Tell them that if they wish to discuss this, they must meet us later.
  • But we'll never make it. They intend to be there very soon.
  • Caesar considers his wording of the next events carefully, being sure to create in describing an admirably fierce adversary.
