  • Scene 1: Macbeth hires two murderers to execute his plan to kill Banquo and Fleance while they are riding outside of the castle. In this scene,Macbeth says"Banquo,if your soul is going to make it to heaven,tonight's the night".The literary is characterization and it important because it shows the aspects of the character.
  • Scene 2: Macbeth is starting to feel guilty about Duncan death and his plan to kill his friend. In this scene, Macbeth says "I'd rather be dead than endure this endless mental toture and harrowing sleep deprivation." Lady Macbeth tries to calm Macbeth down. The literary device is personification and it important because it shows the personality of a specific character.
  • Scene 3: The three murderers wait outside the castle for Banquo and Fleance. In this scene, the murderers kill Banquo. Fleance escapes without being killed. Also when the murderers attack Banquo he says" this is treachery, get out of here, good Fleance, run, run, run!" The literary is metaphor and it important in order show how it plays through the scene. 
  • Scene 4: Macbeth invites the lords to the his castle for a banquet. As the guests are seated at the table, Macbeth sees Banquo's ghost in his chair and begins to get upset. The Lords start questioning Macbeth's behavior and Lady Macbeth tries to calm down Macbeth and the guests. The literary device of characterization is used in this scene to show Macbeth as paranoid. This can be seen when Macbeth addresses Banquo's ghost saying "you ca't say I did it. Don't shake your bloody head at me".
  • Scene 5: Hecate comes to complain to the First Witch about not being included in their plans with Macbeth. Hecate tells the witches that he is going to join in their plans. He says "when I work it over with magic spells, the drop will produce magical spirits that will trick Macbeth with illusions.The literary device is point of view and it important to show the main idea in this scene.
  • Scene 6: Lennox is clearly suspicious of Macbeth's role in the murders and how he is handling it. In this scene, the Lord tells Lennox that Macduff went to ask King Edward to form an alliance against Macbeth.The literary device is imagery and it important because talks about things could turn out.
