Storyboard Text

  • Old immigrants came from Northern/ Western Europe while new immigrants came from Southern/ Eastern Europe. While both immigrants settled in cities, old immigrants also settled in rural areas. Old immigrants were protestant christians while new immigrants were Catholics, Jews or Orthodox Christians.
  • Immigrants had to face long days or weeks to get in. Including medical inspections, legal inspection and etc just to get into the United States. Immigrants hoped for new opportunities and a better life in general when coming into the United States.
  • The Nativist treated the Immigrants like they were a big threat to their kind. To stop immigrants, Nativists created the Chinese Exclusion Act that lasted for 10 years and the Gentlemen's Act.
  • The wealthy class was more known as the Glided age and lived great . It was named this because even though a lot of good things were happening, there were really bad things happening underneath it. The Glided age was named by Mark Twain.
