A lot of things have happened in these Californian sands.
One boy didn't need to be here. His name was Ralph Lazo, a Mexican kid. He didn't want to leave his second generation Japanese friends, so he lied that he was part Japanese. After two years, he went to join the army.
Only 26 of the 59 teachers came, because no one wanted to work at a prison camp in the desert, or get paid far less than any other jobs.
No one liked school. Only 895 of the 1500 high school students attended, and students ripped at tar papers and kicked at doors.
On December 6, 1942, a riot occurred in an open space called fire break. 2000 men and boys gathered, and protested. After a car had been pushed against the police, the police fired at the riot, and 11 men and boys fell. One kid died immediately, another man died later in the hospital.
Life at Manzanar was not entirely bad. There were recreation centers, where seemingly everyone played basketball. Evacuees made parks, such as Merritt park, the biggest park made by camp ressidence.
Nowadays, Japanese peoples are thought to be the awesome guys that make Anime or are geniuses.
The world really
Before, however, Japanese or any Asian was not trusted in any job better than a cheese canning factory.
