It is a December evening and I am sitting by the fire trying to distract my thoughts from Lenore when I heard a knock on the door.
I open the door and nobody is there. I then hear a tap on the window.
I opened my window and in flew a raven. So I began to talk to it.
"Though thy crest be shorn and shaven, thou." (736)
After a long conversation with the raven, I finally ask the raven the question I have been dying to know; only to receive the response "Nevermore." I received the answer I never wanted to hear: I will never see Lenore again.
"is there balm in Gilead?-tell me- tell me, I implore!" (737)
I then begin to yell at the raven. It is only reminding me of my beloved Lenore.
"Leave my loneliness unbroken- quit the bust above my door!" (738)
