"I marvel that they leave this hound to lie here on the dung pile"
Odysseus sees Argos, his dog he had before he left for the war. He tells Eumaeus that he " marvel that they leave this hound to lie/ here on the dung pile" (17.694). He hid his face from Eumaeus so he wouldnt find out he was odyseuss.
Argos lifted his head as he heard his owners voice after 20 years. he tries to wag his tail.
After Odyseeus and Eumaeus left the room, Argos was happy he seen his owner before he died. then Argos died.
