In this image the black box symbols death, it represents the people of the towns tradition that they carry out once every year meaning that drawing from the box you could have the possibility of being stoned to death if picked.
Tone and theme
In this picture I'm representing the quote "their were men holding small folded pieces in their large hands" on page 30 line 182 this imagery shows the shock of the men and the folded piece of paper that they fold before them.
I picked the figurative language of irony. I choose this because of tess Hutchinson and Her statement about the fairness of the lottery is ironic because until her family is selected, Tess does not seem to believe the lottery is unfair. on page 31 line 230
The tone and theme of the story is fear and suspense I believe this because throughout the whole story the constant question was "who is it, who's got it" creating a tone of fear that is carried on through the story. I also can say that the theme is suspense because based on the story no one knows who will have it until the "lottery" takes place and this built up the suspense as it kept growing throughout the story.
