Scene opens with Paris in prayer. Betty is laying on bed inert. Abigail interrupts her uncle and tells him of how people are calling this witchcraft.
She lies to him of how they danced in the forrest without witchcraft
The Putnams tell him how their Ruth is the same as Betty and that they've sent for reverend Hale as they believe the children are cursed by the devil. Goody Ann tells them of how every child she has had (7) has died in the arms of Tituba and they come to the conclusion it is her who has cursed the children.
Enter Mercy and Warren. They are both very worried about how the village are calling it witchcraft. Warren tells Abigail how she only watched and never took part in any of it, Abigail shouts back and Betty begins to whimper and wake, calling for her mother. She wants to fly out of the window but Abigail forces her away. Betty tells how Abigail drank blood to kill Goody Proctor and then collapses.
Hale arrives and decides Mary is cursed. Tituba also arrives and is framed. She is told hale can open her and she will not be whipped or punished if she tells hale who she saw with the devil, so she does.
Abigail sees how she is praised and joins too, claiming that she sold her soul to the devil. However they are told they must accuse another if they are to be freed. The other girls join in and Mary wakes too. They all join the chant of who they saw with the devil.
