On Christmas night Washington led 2400 troops across icy rivers to surprise the enemy at Trenton. Washington then escaped and marched to Princeton, his arm went several different directions.

On October 17 1777, General Burgoyne surrendered. The British plan had failed. The Continental Army had won an enormous victory that changed that course of the war.
In 1787 the snow had slowed down the amount of supplies the troops get, Washington's wife, Martha, and several other volunteers helped make clothes and care for the sick. The troops lacked decent clothes and shoes, food, shelter, and medical care.
