According to the article "Threat 1: Overfishing", "Overfishinng occurs when fish and other marine species are caught faster than they can reproduce."
Well they're being overfished so they are depleting.
Hey dad, what happened to all the fish?
What is overfishing?
Yes son, because in 1981 a chef created a dish using the redfish, and so the redfish became very wanted and popular. In the book World Without Fish it says, " But suddenly, it seemed everyone wanted blackend redfish and in less than ten year, the annual catch of redfish in the Gulf went from 1.6 million pounds to more than 7 million pounds."
Is that what happened to the redfish?
Yes, I learned from the article "Sustainable fishing Methods" that Rod and reel fishing, Hook and line, spearfishing, and cast nets are all friendly fishing methods. They are also called sustainable fishing methods.
Are there any friendly ways to catch fish?
Well there are many ways to know what fish are caught sustainably when buying fish. In the video "How to buy fresh sustainable seafood" I learned that there are apps to tell you what fish to buy, and to go to high turnover stores, buy wild caught fish, and look for eco friendly lables.
But how do humans buy fish that were caught sustainably?
Yes son it is, and if humans don't start being more responsible now all of us could be in danger.
So overfishing and fish depletion is a real problem dad.
